Mini catch up for Suzie's 365 photos

I've just realised that I haven't blogged since Wednesday - I have made one or two cards, but can't show them yet.

Before I get further behind here is a mini catch up for Suzie's 365 photos.

Day 241: textured - a left over piece of lace after I'd made this card:

Day 242: slow - was going to go out and look for snails, but decided I'd show the setting for slow cooking instead:

Day 243: thriving - these little flowers were thriving among the pebbles on the beach at Eastbourne when we were there in May - amazing how they survivie:

Day 244: through a window - I took this picture recently at mum's when I was admiring the garden she looks on to:

I wonder what tomorrow's photo prompt will be!

School notebook

This is another altered notebook that I did a while ago and didn't blog at the time.

I used an offcut of pink checked card as the background and stickers from Poundland - couldn't be easier, but another one to sell for Tearfund.

WOYWW 169

Wednesday has come round again and I'm a bit late in the day to show what's on my desk, but here I am now.

I held the camera high above the desk and clicked, so the photos are at a bit of an odd angle.

Why am I showing these? It's for WOYWW 169 - if you don't know what I'm on about, click on the link ... and join in - it's good fun and great to have the opportunity to see what others are doing in their crafty spaces.

To my left: you can just see some of my birthday cards received last week - it's a bigger pile that's out of the picture - I hope to eventually show them on my blog. Then there's some cards I've made in the last day or so, a magazine, some items received in the post today - including a card put through with the post to say the postman couldn't deliver an item because there is a fee to pay - ouch! You can also see a stap that's out ready to use (whenever!) and the pan pastels are still waiting to be tried. Lodged against the computer monitor is a postcard received in a swap this morning - you can see it better here.

To my right - some bits and pieces waiting to be put way, a bag for paper pieces to be recycled (no chocolate in the bag) and one of my boxes of acrylic and unmounted stamps.

Thanks to everyone who visits me and leaves comments - so much appreciated.

Card with lace

I've had this piece of very wide lace for as long as I can remember and I thought it was about time I did something with it:

I wrapped a piece of the lace around a square offcut of silver mirror card and then mounted on to a piece of Basic Grey cappella paper. The triangles in the corners and the middle of the flowers were cut from Basic Grey green at heart paper, the larger flowers were cut from some offcuts - the flowers being cut with nestabilities through my cuttlebug.

Colours are for Color throwdown 207 (I'm disappointed that the lace doesn't look so strong a peach colour as it does in real life - it really is a deeper, richer colour peach - it must be 'operator error' with my new camera):

I then added a fair number of bright pink gems.

Jungle notebook

This is a notebook I altered a while ago, but never got round to blogging. Note to self: need to make more soon ready for Tearfund sale early October (and the weeks go by so quickly!).

The background paper is an offcut of some that was rescued from the inside of a large envelope (wish there were more envies like this!), so this is another for Pixie's crafty snippets 35, also for Our creative corner: recycle it with a pop of green.

Stickers were from Poundland.

Postcard swap received

Having just shown the postcard that I sent to Gez for the BF forum swap, I've just received this delightfully gorgeous postcard from Karen:

The butterflies glisten beautifully.

I'm going to put this somewhere where I can see it to remind me to have some me time.

Postcard swap

I took part in a postcard swap on the Bubbly Funk forum and sent mine to my dear friend, Gez - please visit her blog here to see the wonderful crafting that she produces - her creativity and talent will take your breath away.

There was a choice of two themes, both inspired by the forum header:

Use any combination of butterflies, lace, bubbles and music
OR
Use at least three of these colours: pale green, pink, grey, black and ivory

As you can see, I went for the colours, but also added butterflies.

I stamped 'rose postcard by Hardenbrook studio, inking with memento tuxedo black and colouring with copics (and one marvy le plume alcohol pen). The butterfly stamps are a couple I've had for ages.

The picture given for Just inspirational 43 showed roses, so this is for that:

This week's challenge on Clear it out is ... well, a challenge (yes, I know the clue is in the word - lol) ... this is what it said:

Our theme is : inspiration (create a project based on something that inspires you-a card, a person, a place, anything) ****to be eligible to win this week you must show us your project AND a picture of what inspired you - Our stash item is: something glittery!

Well, I was inspired by the Bubbly Funk forum postcard swap (you can read about it here) and the theme given for that - and I used glossy accents which glistens - and, of course, for Clear it out the idea is to use something old ... well, I had the stamp for a long while (much loved).
I added some glossy accents here and there on the rose and butterflies.

Unfortunately, this photo doesn't really show the pale pink in the background:

I've heard from Gez that she's received this, so I know I'm safe to show it now.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

Oh Christmas tree

I received my Papercraft Inspirations magazine through the post today (I keep meaning to cancel the subscription, but never seem to getting round to doing it) - anyway, there was a 'free' chipboard tree, twine and some stickers with gems with it and I thought I would use them rather than put them away forever.

So this is a card for Always playing with paper merry Monday sketch 30:

I used snippets from my Christmas offcuts box, so this is another card for Pixie's crafty snippets 35.

The red glittered panel on the left is a piece left over from a Christmas cracker a couple of seasons ago, so this is for Little red wagon 147: upcycle, also Our creative corner: recycle it with a pop of green (twine around the branches).

Simply with sympathy

I made the previous card using scraps from a 12 x 12 DCWV Mariposa paper that was cut into recently and I still had a fair amount over. I decided to add a bit of interest by cutting the paper into three panels, distressing the edges with spiced marmalade distress ink applied lightly with an inkylicious dusting brush and adding another textured rub on, mounting on to a deep brown card blank.

The photo has made the card look a bit curved because it wasn't lying quite flat enough.

Autumnal sympathy

This is for The house that stamps built what if A2212 sketch:

Colours inspired by LiaStampz 23:

This is my first venture this week into the playground for Pixie's crafty snippets 35, using square offcuts of some DCWV Mariposa paper that I used the other day - this has a light green background with some lightly printed text and leaves etc. I stamped four My Mind's Eye wild asparagus stamps inked with memento rich cocoa, dusted the edges with spiced marmalade distress ink using one of my inkalycious blending brushes and then edged with the memento cocoa bean.

The sentiment is a textured rub on by Creata impressions.

I don't know why, but it was very difficult to get a photo of this card - the brown card blank is very dark IRL and the spiced marmalade looks more orange, but this is the rest I could do:

Colour crazy

Sadly, this is my last week as a Guest Designer on Tuesday Throwdown - I've so enjoyed my time with them and am very grateful for being invited.

Today's challenge 113 is 'colour crazy'. I've chosen to use mainly orange and purple as my colour scheme, something that isn't used together too often.

The image, coloured with copics, was supplied by Digital Delights who are sponsoring the Tuesday Throwdown challenge.

For the background of my card I used a piece of Basic Grey wisteria, colouring the cream flowers with an orange copic and also colouring the inside of the purple flowers. I've sometimes used glitter on patterned paper before, but I can't remember that I've ever actually coloured anything in, so this is a 'first'.

The matting layers behind the image were die cut with a nestie using my cuttlebug.

The sentiment was computer generated and printed.

Colours were inspired by the photo supplied for For your inspiration 36:

Window on Paris

This is another entry for this week's Inspiration Avenue ' doorways and windows' - this time a card with a view of Paris through the window - how I wish I was there and able to enjoy looking out on to that scene.

I've used components from the Kanban everyday essentials kit.

An interesting doorway

When John and I were in Eastbourne recently we caught the bus to East Dean and had a wander around, stopping for coffee in between. I came across an interesting doorway - I loved the stonework of the wall and the solid wood door, as well as the post where a gate had originally been attached. So when I saw the theme for this week's Inspiration Avenue ' doorways and windows' I knew that I wanted to share this photo:

When I took the photo I thought that perhaps I would be able to use it for one of Suzie's 365 photos ... and it so happens that for Day 240 today it's 'free choice', so I'm linking this for that too.

This is also for Order of the opus gluei 138: me and my camera - celebrating a photo.

Catch up for Suzie's 365 photos

Having had a mammoth catch up recently, the next day my camera broke and, although I was managing to take pictures of my cards with my iPad, I didn't fancy trying to keep up with Suzie's 365 photos using that. I am very fortunate to have a new camera that I'm beginning to get used to (although I admit I ought really to look at the instructions).

So here is my little recent catch up:

Day 235: star - these star punches are very handy:

Day 236: irregular - this napkin is in a heap in an irregular shape - and also it's very 'irregular' to just leave it there on the table after the meal:

Day 237: footwear - comfort nowadays:

Day 238: purple:

Day 239: edible - not as 'norty' as it looks - very low fat yoghurt:

I'll deal with todays Day 240 in a separate post because I want to use the photo for something else as well.

Claret and silver church town

For these cards I've used the stamped and embossed images from the Personal Impressions 'church town' stamp using some claret card and embossing with detail silver. These are what I made before decided to make the black and silver cards instead (you can see them here). I didn't want to discard these even though I wasn't really that happy with them, so I've mounted on to green card blanks and added a dreaded peel off 'Season's greetings' (I have a few of these from years ago - they come in handy sometimes - lol!).

Silver church town

For the Christmas Card Challenge for today Deb asked us to make 4 gift cards or 4 small Christmas cards. Well, I haven't absolutely stuck to the challenge, but I hope I'll be forgiven - lol!. I sell packs of 5 Christmas cards to raise money for Tearfund and desperately need to make more packs because I've tended this year to concentrate on making individual cards. So I thought this was an opportunity to make a pack of simple cards - and they are smaller than the individual ones I've been doing, so I think they fit the challenge. If you want information about the Christmas Card Club please contact one of us - the list of those involved is on my sidebar.

So for my five cards I've used a newly acquired Personal Impressions stamp called 'church town', inking it up with versamark and heat embossing with detail silver powder. I then mounted the black card on to silver mirror card before mounting again on to a black card blank.

Unfortunately, you can't see the silver mirror card on some of the cards and the ones on the left look gold instead of silver - I'm still getting used to the new camera (it probably would help if I stopped and read the instructions - lol!).

I forgot to say that before I did these I actually stamped and heat embossed with silver on to some claret deep red card, but then decided they would look better in black - I might try and do something with the claret ones tomorrow.

Anna Griffin blue and yellow

I've been commissioned to make a large A4 card for a lady's 90th birthday. I've used all Anna Griffin supplies, added some blue gems, because I think they always 'go down well' with senior ladies. It's not actually needed for quite some time yet, but I just felt like getting ahead with it. The circle with a floral edge was punched with my new mini 8 punch - a very clever system that seems to work well - you can see one demonstrated here. I used the snowflake one for this card that I showed earlier today.

The sentiment was computer generated and printed and then cut with a nesti label and a backing one as well.

Some of the pansies are 3D, as are the butterflies.

CHNC challenge 87: for a couple

It seemed a good idea when I chose the theme for today's CHNC challenge 87: for a couple, but when I came to make the card I didn't really know what to do ... and I left it till last evening, which wasn't a good idea really and I was tired and didn't much feel like making anythying.

Anyway, in the end I decided to use some of a Hunkydory kit and I created the circle with the snowflakes edge with a punch that was delivered today. It is a We R Memory Keepers mini 8 punch - I saw it on QVC earlier in the week and couldn't resist it (and there's also a flower one too, which I hope to use soon).

The card blank is 8 x 8 because the snowflake circle is made from a 6 x 6 paper.

I bought a new camera today and charged it in time to use it to take a photo of my card - I haven't looked at the instructions, just switched it on and clicked, so it's not a wonderful photo and it's hard to get one with all the gold foiling anyway.

Getting fishy again

Virginmedia broadband is down this afternoon so i'm using my iPad with 3G with blogpress - although i've had this for some time I haven't used it much and am not that familiar with it - finding it's much more fiddly to link urls than it is normally - it's all good practice.

Having made the previous card I had the final card of the fish pack out and it seemed silly to put it away again so I've made another fishy card, this time embossing with the cuttlebug d'vine swirls folder and swiping with stormy sky and shabby shutters distress inks. The sentiment is once again made on my Letratag label maker.

You can't really see it on the photo, but I used a metallic silver pen to fill in the wavy cut outs and the eye.

Fishing u a happy birthday

This fish shaped card is for CAS-ual Friday 66: create a project featuring something you might see in or at the ocean.

I stamped the fish with a prima stamp inked with broken china distress ink, then I embossed with the spots with a folder through my cuttlebug, then distressed with stormy sky DI with a hint of shabby shutters.

The sentiment was generated with my Letratag label maker.

Please excuse the background - I put the fish card on a piece of white card to take the photo, but still trying to get used to taking one with the iPad.

Inking stamps with markers

CCEE 1233 asked us to use markers direct to our rubber stamp. I made five clean and simple cards, inking up the Lindsay Mason script robin stamp with red and brown whispers strokes markers by sugarloaf and then inking up the 'Christmas cheer' sentiment on the large Papermania 'a Christmas carol' stamp with the brown marker and stamping.

I made five cards because I sell packs of 5 nearer to Christmas to raise funds for Tearfund.

The stamping isn't blurred - it's the iPad photo (still trying to get used to using this as my camera is broken).

WOYWW 168

It's Wednesday, so it's time for WOYWW 168. I'm preparing this early because we hope to go out for the day for a belated birthday treat.

Apologies for the terrible pictures - taken with my iPad because my camera is broken - you can see it with the lens permanently open because the battery won't keep in the housing. Of course, I didn't think about the fact that the iPad doesn't have flash so I suppose taking a picture in the evening is really a no-no.

To the left of where I sit are boxes, including Anna Griffin supplies that I had out to make three cards that you can see in the posts below this.

To the right you can see a starter box of Pan Pastels that I won for their challenge a couple of weeks ago and a friendly plastic kit that I won from a Craft-room challenge. You can also see brushes for distressing, my favourite ATG tape gun and that wire box with the Christmas decoupage etc is still there (none used this week).

Happy WOYWW, everyone - and thanks for all the visits and comments I received last week - they are very much appreciated.
